"I started Jiu Jitsu at a late age after spending 25 years doing Shotokan, Kenpo Karate, Chinese Boxing, Kick Boxing, Sprinting and Weight Training. I fell in love with Jiu Jitsu during the first class. I was manhandled by someone half my weight and all my fighting skills were useless on the ground.

It was a hugely humbling experience. I signed up straight away and like all things in my life I threw myself into it until it became my entire life.

I always loved competing and Jiu Jitsu gives you that platform every few weeks. The next best decision I made was to open my own club to train my daughter and help other people find Jiu Jitsu and help change their lives too."

Checkmat Dublin has since become my new home and my interest in competing has been reignited.
